Proton, Perodua : Free To Decide

The government will not force Proton Holdings Bhd and Perodua rival to join as shareholders of both automakers have to agree that to happen, said International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

"There is a long-range ... involved at one end is loose and cooperation in other, a merger, which has yet to be decided, " he told reporters after announcing new development programs for small businesses in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

The government is the major shareholder Khazanah Nasional Bhd in Proton away, while Japan's Daihatsu owns a majority of the manufacturing arm of Perusahaan Otomobil Sdn Bhd's Kedu.

While Proton, which needs to reduce excess capacity at its plant in Tanjung Malim, wants a merger, Perodua is not enthusiastic.

"Several scenarios have to be discussed at this point, as the development and supplier sourcing of components, " Mustapa said, declining to elaborate.

"It 's possible ... even if it is still (early stage)."

Proton and Perodua control 70 percent of the country's passenger car market.

In December last year, the government has made a study of third-party perspective on the merger between the two companies.

Perodua now only have few car models after stopping the production of kancil, kelisa and kenari which has been replaced with Viva 660cc, 850cc and 1.0cc.

     

PERODUA VIVA VS MYVI MONTHLY PAYMENT PRICE LISTS – 660 / 850 / 1.0 / 1.3 REVIEW?

Many people asking to themself which one to choose, myvi vs viva? If Perodua Viva, 660 or 850 or 1.0 cc? If Myvi, 1.0cc or 1.3 cc?

It is all depends on your budget and target. If your budget is low and targetting the lowest fuel consumption for going to work everyday, then Perodua Viva 660 is the best choice for you.

I have done a few test drive of all the models of Myvi and Viva. For Viva, the 850cc version has the moderate pick up like normal car and the 1.0cc Viva have extra or should i say over pick up due to too large engine capacity on a small and light car. That makes the fuel consumption higher for the 3 cylinder DOHC DVVT engine.

The auto transmission for 1.0cc viva only has 3 speed gear instead of 4 speed on a normal automatic transmission car. That contribute to higher fuel consumption. If you ask me, which one is best? I would suggest the viva 850 manual, enough power to weight and fuel efficient. But if you prefer automatic, then you have no choice to get the 1.0 engine. Need the best fuel efficiency? Then viva660 will be the one but don't expect anything on the performance.

For Perodua Myvi, 1.0 cc or 1000cc only available in manual transmission with 3 cylinder engine compare to the 1300cc version which has 4 cylinder and more efficient. But driving the Myvi 1.0 cc manual, it has enough power and amazingly has no disappointment when you need the performance. Off course the Myvi 1.3 have better performance and have the better fuel consumption after I have made a survey from several user due to the 4 cylinder smoother engine. The Auto version also has a good pickup for a 1.3 litre engine car.

MYVI OR VIVA?

Again, Myvi win in terms of overall space and performance while Viva win in terms of fuel efficient and the length is longer than myvi which gives better leg room. Viva Elite VS Myvi SE? Both have nice bodykit and features. But the price determine which one is better for you.

Perodua Viva Elite: a new look for the Viva

Perodua launched the new Perodua ViVA Elite today, aimed at offering the market a variant with a more stylish image compared to the original ViVA. It is an aesthetic modification in the style of the Myvi SE, and at the same time they've revamped the model line-up a little.

The ViVA was first introduced with 660cc, 850cc, 1,000cc and 1,000cc premium variants. Now it has restructured the model lineup, offering the 660 BX MT, 660 EX MT, 850 MT, 1.0 AT, 1.0 ELITE MT, 1.0 ELITE AT, and the 1.0 ELITE EZi. That's three different variants for the new ViVA ELITE.

Externally, the ViVA Elite has its own front bumper with integrated foglamps, front grille and its own engine hood design. On the side you'll see chrome door handles, side skirts, and 14 inch 12-spoke alloy wheels. On the back you'll see a new rear bumper with a honeycomb grille design, and the 1.0 ELITE EZi model (note, this is different from the ELITE AT) gets an additional rear spoiler. The windows of the ViVA Elite also feature a UV protection coating that is said to reject 91% of UV rays.

On the inside you get a new 1-DIN head unit with MP3 and WMA support, an underside tray under the passenger seat, seat backpockets, a new seat fabric design, and fabric trim on the door panels. All ViVA ELITE models will get seat height adjusters for the driver's seat, and electrically adjustable side mirrors. On the ELITE EZi, these side mirrors are also electrically retractable and have integrated turn signals.

Only the ViVA 1.0 ELITE EZi gets a full load of safety features including dual SRS airbags for the front, ABS brakes, EBD and Brake Assist. Power steering is also only available on the ELITE models. The other non-Elite models are left with just basic features such as reverse sensors on the 850 and 1.0 model, and a CD player on the 660 EX, 850 and 1.0 model. The following are the prices for the new Perodua ViVA range including the non-Elite models:

New Perodua Viva

Perodua has the latest model trains swing compact Perodua Viva with three types of capacity engine the 660cc, 850cc and 1000cc. Viva prices on the road is between RM28, 400 to RM43, 800 and offered in a choice of five colors.

Viva model is the model of the popular Perodua Kancil and Kelisa.
With the capacity to train engine 660cc and 850cc, Viva manual transmission system using five speed. Train with enjin 1000cc also divided into two namely Standard and Premium. For the Standard and Premium SX SXi, it uses five speed manual transmission. Automatic transmission four speed can also be found on the Standard and Premium EZ EZi.

Train capacity engine 1000cc Premium with the manual or automatic transmission also offers SRS twin air bag. Premium variant also equipped with anti-lock brake system (ABS) and Electronic Circular Brake (EBD).

During launching, Perodua provide as many as 2,000 pieces of Viva ready to be sold to the crowd.
